For the past several weeks I've been receiving lessons in pop culture. Finally, I've watched the X Files up to and including the movie. Now I know what my cohorts in the Covenanty Players were talking about when they mentioned unmarked helecopters, and the movie fiinally makes sense.

Considering that I was such a fan of Kolchak - The Night Stalker, I don't see how I could have skipped this show. But then again, yes I do see how I intentionally didn't watch it. Had other things of more pressing importance than getting hooked on another tv series. Now that I've managed my career, sort of, and made a good deal of lesson plans, there's free time for pop-cultural persuits. It was good to see Darrin McGavin make an appearance in season 5.

Don't think I'll be writing any fan fiction on this one though.

(((HaL)))

Oh, come on... I think it would be SOO COOL to write up an X-files/Kolchak cross-over! Mulder and Scully go out to investigate some strange happening and get *this* close to catching the badguy... and then Karl stumbles onto the scene, snapping away with his 110 camera and raving about aliens with broken-down spaceships stopping over for a snack. They take him in to FBI headquarters and Karl goes barging into Skinner's office and demands an exclusive?

Oh, the fun that could be had! lol!

Kolchak! *swoons* I miss that show so much! I'll have to look into getting it on DVD or something. Right after I get the first two seasons of Daniel Boone. ;-)

X Files is a fascinating show, but it's easy to get confused unless one watches all the episodes in order. There used to be a site that had amazingly detailed synopses of the episodes, which helped a lot. I should try to find that again.

All the episodes in order has been a remarkable challenge until Loth loaned me her dvds. Some of them, however, are great as stand alone stories. I like the ones that remind me of Kolchak. El Mundo Gira (The Chupacabra), Humbug (Circus Camp), Unusual Suspects (first meeting of Mulder and the Lone Gunmen) and Jose Chung's Outer Space (Charles Nelson Riley guest) are current favorites.
