After hearing the name William Wilberforce most of my life, it's nice to finally know what it was that he did. He was a driving force behind the abolitionist movement in the UK at about the time of the American Revolution. The movie Amazing Grace is a very well made period piece that tells part of the story. Worth seeing. Several times. Ioan Gruffudd plays Wilberforce, leading a cast of actors' actors. You know the type. We see them all over the background doing their jobs expertly. May their tribe increase and may they never be out of work.

Most likely everyone knows the story of the song, Amazing Grace. Written by John Newton who used to be captain of a slave ship. He's been criticized for using the word "wretch" in the song, but he really was a wretch until God changed him. I doubt the criticism bothers him.
